Launched in 2002, BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra provides a destination for overspill sports coverage when BBC Radio 5 Live is already broadcasting sport or covering breaking news. BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra 2 and 3 appeared as exclusive streams on BBC Sounds in May 2025.
